Dear Animal Lovers,
Can you take a chance with your beloved pet that I am wrong?
I refer you to an article from Catholic Propecy Update a Bi-Monthly Report from Signs and Wonders For Our Times. VOL.1,
Number 5 - Sept/Oct. 1997.
FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE GOD'S WORD ....NO EXPLAINATION IS NECESSARY........FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE.....NO EXPLAINATION IS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!
Oh, My God!
This clearly explains the thing which happened right after those severe storms in Florida! One day all 16 of my dogs began tearing off their clothes and parading around in thongs. And there was rap music coming from inside them. They were surly and threw me insulting gestures. Then one night a comet blew by and they all disappeared. I have no more dogs, Thank God and Revelations, and now I know that if I ever have any again, I will not microchip them and so the sattalite won't be able to drive them insane and make them leave home.
Thank you Apocalypse. Now I know what went wrong!
Relieved and Enlightened
Doesn't this nonsense break some standard of the list rules? I do not
believe that this message is really setter or dog oriented but just an
attempt by a crackpot crusader to try to shout their brand religion at us
from the "street corner." And as a dog lover and a Catholic, I am
personally offended by this diatribe.
It is proably a good thing to be reminded of this possibility from
time to time and, rescue always has the potential to be intrusive. I would
suggest tho, that it is not intrusion into our lives that is the danger,
but the nature of the intrusion. Rescue is , of itself, an intrusion.
Hopefully it is designed to help and to free, but even this must be taken
cautiously unless the rights of owners and breeders are heedlessly violated.
Intrusions are always a balancing act .
We are designed to be interactive beings and this necessitates
intrusion on one hand and guarding the dignity of individuals on the other
What an intrusion e-mail is ! ! I like to think that Setters-l is
for the most part a constructive, caring, loving, group of intruders. Look
at all the times we grieve with one another, identify with each other in
pain, support one another in crisis, help one another with working out
things like transportation, and laugh outrageously with each other. We know
e-mail can be pretty terrible in some hands, tho. What dreadful misuses we
Of course there are intrusions that are manipulative, selfish,
greedy, vile, and murderous. But there are those which are instinctively
giving, caring, and lovely. And sometimes it is not possible to
distinguish ..... the lines blur .. ... and we can not separate the wheat
from the chaff. Good things in some hands become evil things in another.
And good things taken to extreme become less than good things.
Now although I myself am not concerned about microchips being among
the invasive things to be concerned about, there are things (not
necessarily setter related) which cause me rage as being grossly,
manipulatively, intrusive. I admit the need to re evaluate periodically.
So while we go riding off to do battle in the name of rescue, we need to
pause for a reality check now and then.
Thanks for reminding us of this responsibility.
Reasoned and Measured
Having done the very thing suggested, I fail to find any
information on microchipping, what in the microchips could or would be
activated, how activation would be achieved, nor what any supposed
activation would accomplish.
While we certainly do well to take heed of the
cautions found in Rev. the last book of the Bible,
these cautions are not directed toward microchipping nor are they
of particular concern for setters. Getting sidetracked from genuine issues
dilutes the real import of scripture.
To The Point
AT THE RISK OF SOUNDING LIKE A VERY LAZY DOG OWNER, I WOULD BE DELIGHTED TO
HAVE ANYTHING CONTROL MY 18 DOGS SINCE THEY OFTEN DO AS THEY PLEASE--THE
OLD SELECTIVE HEARING LOSS. BUT I AM MORE THAN WILLING TO PUT UP WITH THE
IMPROBABLE RISK OF SATELLITE CONTROL VERSUS THE REAL RISK OF LOSS OF MY
DOGS BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY IDENTIFICATION THAT WOULD AID IN THEIR
RETURN IF LOST OR STOLEN.
Having just gotten home this latest tangent relating to info on the net
rivals January's "Afghan conspiracy". I don't doubt the sincerity of the
original poster, but you really need to get out more often and spend less
time on conspiracy theories. The Biblical reference is an apocalyptic book,
one I believe, that is not to be taken in a literal sense as might the
Gospels. If you take Revelation in the literal sense you must do so word
for word and not pick and choose those passages that prove a point, no
matter how bizarre the point.
I hope that we can use this medium for discussion on setters not UFO's,
Microchips and Big Brother, as well as a myriad of other non-related fringe
Now if there had been an afghan cross-reference who knows what that might
bring out of the woodwork.
Out and About
Excuse me please !! The microchip used for ID purposes is a 100 percent
passive device. Therefore, your dog cannot be tracked from
space as there is nothing to be activated. Were a "beacon" be implanted in
your dog under the "guise" of a microchip, there would be two not so small
problems. 0ne, The power supply and two the size of the transmitter, not to
mention the size of the antenna.
Have you seen the size of the chip that is implanted? It's about the size of
a grain of rice. Webster and Megan
had their AVID chips implanted two three weeks back at MSU. The procedure was
quick, simple and straightforward. I was talking to an animal control officer
Sunday as he was taking a break from chasing down two stray Chows.
He mentioned that all dogs that come into the shelter are immediately scanned
for a chip. AVID the one Webster and Megan have, actually give scanners to the
humane societies and local shelters, and make a scanner that recognizes the
encoding of the four major makes. It virtually guarantees that a lost,
chipped puppy will be returned to it's proper owner if it comes to a local
That's a cheap price to pay, in my view, for such a level of security. But
that is simply my opinion.
In the Know
Being a back sliding reformed Congregationalist, I properly acknowledge that I
am not quite as conversant with the holy word as perhaps I should. So please,
where does it make mention of Low Orbiting Satellites and microchipped
canines, and the threat such poses to Christendom?
